Stigma Shift Trail Sessions

Some conversations need more sky.

Trail Sessions combine movement, real conversation, Sedona's red rock landscape, and the Five Gears framework in an experience designed to help you think differently while you move differently.

No office. No fluorescent lights. No pretending a walk in the desert fixes everything. Just space, movement, perspective, and an honest next step.

Why the Trail?

Movement changes the room—even when there is no room.

Sometimes sitting across from somebody makes a conversation feel heavier than it needs to. Walking can change that.

There is something useful about moving forward while talking about what has you stuck. The trail gives us pauses, distance, silence, challenge, scenery, and a reason to look up from the problem for a minute.

The canyon does not do the work for you. It just gives the conversation somewhere honest to breathe.

Trail Sessions are built around conversation, reflection, the Five Gears, and practical next steps—not around pretending nature is a substitute for therapy or medical care.

The Five Gears as the conversation. The canyon as the backdrop.
The Experience

Walk. Talk. Shift.

Every Trail Session is different, but the experience is built around four things.

👞

Movement

A pace that fits the session, terrain, and people involved. The walk supports the conversation rather than becoming a race.

💬

Real Conversation

Direct, grounded discussion about where you are, what keeps repeating, what matters, and what the next move could look like.

The Five Gears

A practical structure for identifying awareness, help-seeking, discipline, purpose, momentum, and legacy.

🌄

Perspective

Space to step outside the normal environment, slow the noise down, and look at the problem from somewhere different.

The Five Gears on the Trail

Sometimes the question is simple: what gear are you in?

Trail Sessions use the Five Gears to keep the conversation practical and forward-moving.

Is This a Fit?

The trail is useful when the expectation is clear.

A Trail Session May Be a Good Fit If You…

  • Think better while moving
  • Want a less formal coaching environment
  • Feel stuck and need perspective
  • Want to work through the Five Gears in real time
  • Are comfortable being outdoors
  • Want a focused conversation without sitting in an office

A Trail Session Is Not…

  • Psychotherapy
  • Crisis intervention
  • Medical treatment
  • A guarantee of emotional or mental health outcomes
  • A high-speed fitness hike unless specifically arranged
  • A substitute for appropriate clinical care
What to Expect

Simple on purpose.

Before the Hike

We talk about your goals, comfort level, physical ability, relevant trail considerations, and what you want the session to focus on.

On the Trail

We walk, talk, pause when needed, use the Five Gears as a framework, and let the conversation develop naturally without forcing constant talking.

The Pace

The trail session is not about proving anything. The pace should support safety and conversation, with route difficulty matched to the session.

Afterward

You leave with a clearer sense of what gear you are in, what came up, and what your next practical shift can be.

Trail Safety

The scenery is powerful. The desert still deserves respect.

Routes, timing, weather, heat, hydration, footwear, physical ability, and trail conditions matter. Safety always takes priority over completing a route or forcing a conversation.

Route SelectionTrail difficulty should match the ability and goals of the people participating.
Weather & HeatSessions may need to be adjusted, shortened, moved, or rescheduled when conditions are unsafe.
PreparationProper footwear, water, sun protection, and appropriate clothing are part of the experience.
CommunicationParticipants should disclose relevant limitations that affect safe route selection or outdoor activity.
Take the Conversation Outside

Sometimes the next shift starts with putting one foot in front of the other.

If a trail sounds like a better place for the conversation you need to have, let's figure out the right route and the right focus.

Stigma Shift Trail Sessions are educational, coaching-oriented outdoor experiences and are not psychotherapy, medical treatment, crisis intervention, diagnosis, or a substitute for care from a licensed healthcare professional. Outdoor activities involve inherent risk and may require additional participant waivers or disclosures.
